We celebrate the solemn feast of Saints Robert, Alberic and Stephen who in the year 1098 established the monastery of Citeaux (France). The icon below depicts our three founders within the mantle of Mary our Mother, patroness for all Cistercian monasteries. The icon was written by a monk of Spencer abbey in the U.S. In our Eucharistic liturgy, the monks of New Clairvaux join in prayer with all our brothers and sisters of the Cistercian family throughout the world. For more information on the history of early Citeaux, please visit the website for the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance at www.ocso.org.
On this blog you will periodically find articles, links to pertinent websites, reflections, homilies, and images that express our monastic Cistercian life.
