The monks of New Clairvaux wish to greet our visitors on the web a blessed and safe Christmas! As we gathered in the darkness for Vigils on the eve of Christmas our thoughts were turned to our Christian brothers and sisters in our world who are unable to celebrate Christmas. And as we watched and waited through the night, we heard the words from the 12th century Cistercian monk, St. Aelred, who in his sermon on the birth of our Lord, said: "Now this is what I say: you must love. You fear the Lord of angels, but I say, love the tiny babe; you fear the Lord of majesty, but I say, love the infant wrapped in swaddling bands; you fear him who reigns in heaven, but I say, love him who lies in the manger."
On this blog you will periodically find articles, links to pertinent websites, reflections, homilies, and images that express our monastic Cistercian life.
