In an effort to understand our winery and New Clairvaux Vineyards within the context of the wider wine industry, the monastic community took a tour of several wineries/vineyards located in the Sierra Foothills of Amador County. We visited 5 wineries: Cooper Vineyards, Andis Wines, Vino Noceto, Bray Vineyards and Helwig Winery and Vineyards. We got to meet with the owners and winemakers as they toured us around their facilities and wine-tasting room. Each had a unique style and emphasis and catered to a variety of tastes in fine wines. The whole experience was enlightening and provided us with enriching insights into a special segment of the wine industry. The monks of New Clairvaux wish to thank all the owners and winemakers of Cooper, Andis, Vino Noceto, Bray and Helwig for their hospitality and kindness. A special thanks to Sunseri & Associates, Inc., and Mark of Andis Wines for accompanying us and providing an enjoyable lunch! Also, our gratitude goes out to Casey, our driver, who drove us there and back home safely.
On this blog you will periodically find articles, links to pertinent websites, reflections, homilies, and images that express our monastic Cistercian life.
